Our 4 day Inca Trail trek was tough yet rewarding in the best of ways - incredible views, excellent food, our wonderful guide Nilton, our trail chef extraordinaire Pedro and the wonderfully kind and exceptionally efficient team of porters who made it all possible. Anyone who undertakes the trek should understand that it is 45km at altitude with thousands of stone steps, rustic yet comfortable tent camping and weather that can shift from blazing sun to wind and rain, but to be up in the clouds with breathtaking views, desolate Incan ruins and incomparable nature is truly a once in a lifetime experience. We had two adults and three teens — everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip despite a few rough moments. The Cusco Native crew headed up by Renato anticipated all of our needs, were highly responsive to questions and requests and a pleasure to deal with. Cusco Native took care of our group of 5 (2 moms and 3 teen boys) from Cusco arrival to departure. Excellent customer service and communication ahead of trip and wonderful care during the trek. Our guide, Nilton, kept us safe and was very knowledgeable. The porters and chef were unbelievable- we could never had completed such a trek without them. From the coca tea delivered to the tent each morning to the gourmet meals each day and night - their smiling faces kept us going on this challenging trek. We knew that choosing a local company was the way to go, and it showed as we met others on the trail. Cusco Native cares for their porters, cooks and guides and it shows! Cusco Native made all the arrangements (tickets, transfers, accommodations etc.) and answered all my (many!) questions! I loved my hotel Taypikala! The day trips with Franklin and Renado to Cusco and the Sacred Valley were so informative and a great base of knowledge for taking in the history of the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. My guide Cesar on the Inca Trail was so patient and supportive. He was gracious, passionate and shared his personal connection to the land - I honestly could not have finished without him - I called him “My Coach”! He was somehow attentive to all of us and shared so much history … I could go on and on, seriously! The food was out of this world amazing! Every breakfast, lunch and dinner was fresh, different and better than any dishes I have had in a 5-star restaurant! The flavors were always so interesting and delicious! I had no idea this would be part of the trip … they treated us like royalty with a special private “restaurant”, coffee/coca tea and and a bowl of warm water delivered to our tents (that were up and ready when we arrived to camp each night) and a special added surprise like food made in the shape of hilarious animals, banana flambé, and even a cake! We did a one day sacred valley tour with them, a one day Rainbow Mountain tour and a one day Machu Picchu tour. Michael was so helpful from the very beginning, messaging us in English before we got to Peru with all the relevant details and logistics laid out clearly and once we were in Peru Michael continued to be incredibly helpful and responsive to address some changes in our plans that needed to be made. When there were protests at Machu Picchu the week we were visiting, Cusco Native Tours went above and beyond to ensure we still had a good experience - bringing us on alternative outings while Machu Picchu was closed, calling hotels to transfer our reservation to another location of the same chain, and when Machu Picchu did open back up, doing a ton of extra work to make sure the tickets we had for earlier in the week were still valid for when we ended up going. We loved our time with Renado and Franklin, they were incredibly responsible, knowledgeable, kind and fun. We wanted to do a tour of Cusco, before heading out on an evening flight. The experience with Cusco Native Tours was totally professional from beginning to end. I inquired about our special needs: luggage storage and transportation to the airport at the end of the trip. They responded to my emails promptly and we booked the trip. They sent confirmations and reminders as expected. Upon arrival explora contacted them to coordinate a drop-off in Cusco. Our guide gave me a call the evening before to confirm the drop-off. Our guide greeted our van on a side street near the main square. We stored our luggage at another tour company's office and were off on our tour. We zeroed in on the Museo Inka, San Pedro Market, and the Cusco Cathedral. All 3 were fascinating visits and our Cusco Native really brought the attractions to life. His English was excellent and he did a fine job of comprehending our questions. I would absolutely use Cusco Native again on another visit to the Scared Valley. read less11/01/2023

Renato was very friendly and helped prepare us and explained everything clearly and also dropped us off and picked us up after the long and rewarding Lares Trek. Nilton was our guide and he supported us on the trek as well as providing detailed information about the history of the area, the local people and the Incans. Nilton was also very positive and had a good sense of humour. He was always happy to answer any questions or help take a photo from the best angle. The friendly and always positive Mario and Mathias made the trek possible and comfortable and were amazing in setting up all the tents, carrying everything and cooking delicious food (lovely soups and mango ceviche) whilst in the Peruvian mountains. The tour was well organised, incredible value for money and really good fun. The food from our chef Mataies was superb and our horseman Mario was friendly and caring. Our guide Nilton was funny, informative and always made us feel safe throughout trek. Renato briefed us about the trek the day before and he really invested the time to make sure we were happy and understood what the tour would entail. I would recommend this tour 100% to anyone. This was multiple sites beginning in Lima, and continuing into the Cusco area and surrounding hillsides as well as Machu Picchu. There was a lot of logistics to get Square and Cuzco native did a seamless job of making sure that every day was packed full, as well as all transfers were seamless. every day was perfect. Michael and Renato were constantly working behind the scenes to fill in gaps and make sure that every experience was seamless from start to finish. Every day was perfect. There were some unexpected hiccups and logistics along the way, but you never would know, because these two made sure that the Behind-the-scenes action was taken care of and everything proceeded as if nothing had happened. Michael and Renato went above and beyond to make sure that every detail was taken care of from well before the time we entered country until the time we left Peruvian soil. Even down to the smallest minutia, along with last-minute schedule changes that could not be foreseen, they made the transitions seamless as if they had been part of the package the whole time. Not only was this a first rate experience in terms of logistics, but they managed to get us everywhere within country to see all of the things that we wanted to see on the itinerary, which was completely packed to the gills! Michael and the team go above and beyond to make sure this is the best tour ever. The attention to detail and the effort that goes into making this trip unforgettable is huge. This tour is for everyone and it explores ideas that all people should be thinking about. Renato met us at the airport and took us and our luggage to our hotel. They came the next day to give us the rundown. Their English is very good and they were very friendly. The trail was amazing. Nilton gave us incredible knowledge and experiences along the way, and he also gave us space to go at our own pace. My brother got sick on the way so Nilton and the porters helped them get back to a hotel and then take a train on the last day to meet up with us! Renato was also very accommodating at picking us up where we needed to and coordinating keeping our luggage safe while we were on the trail. read less9/12/2023

We did so many activites, it's hard to list them all. Machu Pichu, Wayna Pichu were at the top of our list with the Inca Trail, Cusco, sites around Cusco, Huchuy Quoso (Little Cusco) camping, rafting, rainbow mountain and Ollaytamtambo.
All transportation and stays were arranged and perfectly safe. Renato's English is excelent and he is very knowledgeable about the area and history of the Quechua people (aka, "Inca' people). I would definately choose Renato for a private tour in Peru. read less

We were faced with illness challenges as well as local protests, and Cusco Native employees were fantastic in their flexibility and willingness to make things work out for us. Their local knowledge helped us navigate and travel through wonderfully remote trails that offered world class views. I highly recommend the Choquequiroa trek, from north (Vitcos) to south. It would be difficult to coordinate on your own, but with the help of our guides, a cook, and mules, we successfully hiked through stunning terrain. The food was great and the logistics were well coordinated. The trip involves significant elevation gains and losses, but the trails switchback so often that the hiking is not difficult on the knees. read less4/15/2023

I arrived a day early to acclimatise, explore the surroundings and enjoy a coffee and custard in the Allyu Cafe before meeting my friends on 2nd day in Cusco. Renato arranged a bespoke tour for us that included the usual sites, water rafting, trip to Rainbow Mountain (with horses) as well as 2 day trip to Machu Picchu including one challenging day on the Inca Trail. The water rafting was a favourite of the younger members of our small group while Yin and I enjoyed our visit to Rainbow Mountain.4/11/2023
The finale of our week was a 2-day camping trip with excellent food cooked by chef Wilfredo, tents erected and taken down for us, and a horse provided for me as I struggled with altitude being somewhat older than the rest of my group. For me this was a highlight as we were away from the general tourist hubbub and it was so peaceful on the mountains. We camped at Huchoy Qosqo (Little Cusco), and the favourite place of Inca king, Viracocha. Renato looked after us so well telling us many Inca stories and explaining some of the history. He provided the camping instead of a trip to Puna and Lake Titicaca as Juliaca airport was still closed. We finished our camping with a traditional Pachamanca feast cooked in a fire pit with hot stones - and plenty more besides, before being taken back to Cusco airport for our flight to Lima.
As I said, wonderful trip with no safety issues at all, unless you think riding a horse high in the mountains along narrow paths is dangerous!! read less

The group was small, everybody could walk in his/her own pace, We learned a lot about the Inka culture, the natives, about plants, animals and much more! It was a great experience to be walking not only as hikers, but rather as a team, including our strong men (not just porters!), our chef and our guide. Cusco Natives cares a lot, that every member of the team is being appreciated which felt great! Our guide was amazing, it felt like an authentic experience from the beginning to the end that led us to dive in the history abd the spirit of the trail.
