How We Plan Your Nazca Experience

We design your visit to the Nazca Lines and surroundings with care and intention — from choosing the right time of day for optimal flying conditions to avoiding long waits at the airport. Our itineraries balance must-see highlights like the Nazca Lines overflight with lesser-known local sites such as Chauchilla Cemetery or the Cantalloc Aqueducts. You won’t just check off boxes — we create space to absorb the mystery, learn the history, and connect with the desert’s unique energy.

What to See

Nazca Lines

These massive geoglyphs carved into the desert floor remain one of Peru’s greatest enigmas. Viewed best from above, they depict animals, plants, and shapes — a testament to the artistry and mystery of the ancient Nazca culture.

Maria Reiche Museum

Set in her former home, this small museum celebrates Maria Reiche’s lifelong work on the Nazca Lines. Exhibits include her maps, tools, and notes, offering a personal look at her dedication to preserving these ancient geoglyphs.

Cantalloc Aqueducts

Built by the Nazca centuries ago, these underground channels still carry water through the desert. Their spiral openings and clever stonework reveal the engineering brilliance behind ancient desert farming.

Cahuachi Archaeological Site

Once a major ceremonial center, this sprawling adobe complex was a key religious site for the Nazca. Though partly unexcavated, it offers insight into their rituals, gatherings, and ancient way of life.

Palpa Lines

Less crowded than the Nazca Lines, the Palpa Lines feature geoglyphs carved into the desert hillsides. These ancient figures offer a unique perspective on pre-Inca artistry and are best viewed from nearby lookouts or scenic flights.

Chauchilla Cemetery

This ancient burial site offers a fascinating glimpse into Nazca’s pre-Columbian past. Walk among open tombs where mummified remains, preserved by the desert climate, reveal centuries-old funeral traditions.

We recently returned from an incredible trip organized by this travel company, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, the organization was flawless. They took the stress out of planning by helping us secure the exact Machu Picchu circuit tickets we wanted. If you want a well-organized, stress-free trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu, this is the company to book!

FAQ’s

Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about traveling to Nazca:

No special permits are needed to visit the town of Nazca or its main attractions. Just bring a valid ID or passport, especially if you plan to take a flight over the Nazca Lines or enter any ticketed archaeological sites.

A good amount of time to spend in Nazca is typically one to two days. One day is often enough to see the Nazca Lines (overflight) and perhaps one other attraction like the Cantalloc Aqueducts or the Maria Reiche Museum. Two days allow for a more relaxed pace and the opportunity to explore more of the surrounding area, such as the Cahuachi ruins or Cerro Blanco.

Nazca is less crowded than other destinations like Cusco or Machu Picchu, but flights and tours can still fill up. Booking 1–2 weeks in advance is usually enough, though earlier is better if you’re traveling in the dry season (May–October).

Yes! Many attractions are family-friendly and don’t require strenuous walking. Some activities, like the Nazca Lines flight, may have age or health restrictions, but ground-based tours (like Cantalloc or the museum) are great for all ages.

Nazca is dry and sunny most of the year. The best time is from April to November when skies are clear, especially for flights. Early mornings are ideal for exploring before the desert heat sets in.

Most of the main attractions are accessible by car and require only light walking, though some sites have uneven ground. The viewing tower is easily reachable, and many tours can be adapted to your needs—just let us know in advance.

When you travel with us, you're not just ticking off sights; you're connecting with the culture, guided by locals who care deeply about sharing their heritage. We handle the logistics so you can focus on what really matters: enjoying the experience.
