Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Lima’s international airport, one of our representatives will be there to meet you and assist with your transfer to your hotel. Once you check in, you’ll have the rest of the day free to relax and explore the city at your own pace. Take a leisurely stroll through Kennedy Park or along the malecón in the vibrant Miraflores district, where you can enjoy beautiful coastal views and soak in the local atmosphere.

Lima is also widely regarded as the culinary capital of South America, and it’s a must to sample its renowned cuisine. Whether you’re craving traditional Peruvian dishes or modern fusion, the city has something to offer every palate. If you need any restaurant recommendations or help with securing a reservation, our team is happy to assist!

Discover the charm of Lima’s historic city center on a family-friendly exploration of Peru’s capital. Wander through the grand Plaza Mayor, admire the ornate Cathedral, and, if appropriate for your group, delve into the eerie yet fascinating San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs. Younger children can instead focus on the dramatic architecture and colorful colonial facades while your guide shares captivating tales of Lima’s past—bringing centuries of history to life in a fun and engaging way.

Later, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on Peruvian cooking class where the whole family can learn to prepare iconic dishes like ceviche or lomo saltado. It’s a lively and delicious way to experience Peru’s world-famous cuisine together. In the afternoon, opt for a visit to Parque Kennedy in Miraflores—affectionately known as Cat Park—where kids can enjoy spotting and petting the many friendly cats lounging among the flowers. Round out the day with a cozy dinner at a local restaurant, savoring the rich flavors of Lima’s culinary heritage.

Depart Lima and head south along the iconic Panamericana highway, passing through Peru’s stark coastal desert landscapes en route to the seaside town of Paracas. Upon arrival, you’ll continue on to explore the Paracas National Reserve, a dramatic stretch of protected coastline where the desert meets the sea. This unique ecosystem is home to diverse marine and bird life, as well as striking geological formations shaped by wind and waves. Along the way, you’ll visit viewpoints overlooking the Pacific, walk along rust-colored beaches, and learn about the region’s natural and cultural history from your guide.

After the excursion, you’ll return to Paracas with the rest of the afternoon and evening free to unwind. You might stroll along the lively waterfront promenade, browse local artisan shops, or relax at a café as the sun sets over the bay. For those interested in seafood, Paracas offers excellent dining options featuring the day’s catch. Your hotel provides a comfortable place to rest, and you’ll have time to prepare for the next stage of your journey along Peru’s scenic southern coast.

Begin the day with a scenic boat excursion to the Ballestas Islands, often called the “Galapagos of Peru” for their remarkable biodiversity. As you cruise past the mysterious Candelabra geoglyph etched into the coastal hills, keep an eye out for sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and a variety of marine birds thriving on the rocky islands. After returning to shore, continue your journey south to the Ica region, where you’ll stop at a local vineyard to learn about the traditional process of Pisco production. Gain insight into how this national spirit is distilled and enjoy a tasting of different varieties in a relaxed and authentic setting.

The afternoon brings a visit to the Huacachina Oasis, a surreal lagoon fringed by towering sand dunes in the heart of the desert. Here, you’ll have time to explore the oasis or, for those in search of adventure, take an optional dune buggy ride or try your hand at sandboarding down the golden slopes. As the sun begins to dip, you’ll continue on to the town of Nazca, where you’ll check into your hotel for the night. The evening is yours to relax or take a quiet stroll through the town, with the mysteries of the Nazca Lines awaiting discovery the following day.

This morning begins with a scenic flight over the Nazca Lines, an ancient enigma sprawled across the desert plains. From above, you’ll observe a series of colossal geoglyphs—including monkeys, hummingbirds, and geometric figures—etched into the earth over two millennia ago. The purpose of these massive designs remains a mystery, sparking theories that range from astronomical calendars to ceremonial pathways. The aerial perspective offers the best way to appreciate their scale and precision, making this a highlight of any visit to southern Peru.

After the flight, you’ll have lunch in Nasca before boarding a comfortable day bus bound for Arequipa. The journey will take you through a variety of landscapes as you travel inland towards the Andean foothills. By the late afternoon or evening, you’ll arrive in Arequipa, the “White City,” framed by the majestic Misti volcano. Once you arrive, you’ll be escorted to your hotel, where you can check in and unwind for the evening. The rest of the evening is free to explore the charming streets and colonial architecture of this historic city.

Today, your family will explore the charm and heritage of Arequipa, known as the “White City” for its beautiful buildings made from volcanic sillar stone. Begin your adventure in the heart of the city at the Plaza de Armas, one of Peru’s most stunning main squares, where palm trees and fountains frame the grand Cathedral. With its striking façade and rich history, the Cathedral provides a fascinating introduction to Arequipa’s colonial legacy. Engaging stories from your guide will help bring the city’s past to life in a way that resonates with all ages.

Next, step into the colorful walls of the Monasterio de Santa Catalina, a massive convent complex that feels like a miniature city of its own. Kids often enjoy navigating the vibrant alleys and quiet courtyards, imagining life behind the convent walls centuries ago. Continue to the Mirador de Yanahuara, a peaceful viewpoint offering spectacular views of the city and the towering Misti Volcano—an ideal spot for family photos. To cap off your day, enjoy a hearty and authentic lunch at a traditional Arequipeña picantería, where bold regional flavors and local dishes offer a true taste of Arequipa’s culinary identity.

Our team will pick you up in the morning for a captivating cultural excursion through some of Arequipa’s most iconic historic landmarks. We begin with a visit to the Mansión del Fundador (Founder’s Mansion), a 17th-century estate built during the early Spanish colonial period. Constructed from Arequipa’s signature white volcanic stone and painted in soft pastel hues, this grand residence once belonged to the founder of the city. As you explore its antique furnishings, colonial-style rooms, and artwork infused with Inca symbolism, you’ll gain insight into the fusion of Spanish and Andean traditions that shaped the region’s identity.

Next, we head to El Molino, a beautifully preserved site where you’ll delve into its rich history, learn about its traditional construction techniques, and admire its impressive architectural features. The visit offers a unique glimpse into Arequipa’s colonial past and the daily life of its early inhabitants. After the tour, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel and have the remainder of the afternoon free to explore the charming streets of Arequipa at your leisure—whether that’s discovering hidden courtyards, sampling local cuisine, or simply relaxing in one of the city’s sunlit plazas.

Start your day at Mundo Alpaca, an interactive center where your family can meet and feed alpacas, llamas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Children especially enjoy getting close to these gentle animals and learning about their role in Andean culture. You’ll also see traditional weaving demonstrations and discover how local artisans transform natural fibers into beautiful textiles, offering both education and fun.

Later, satisfy your sweet tooth with a hands-on chocolate workshop. Learn about the journey of cacao in Peru, from bean to bar, and dive into making your own chocolate treats. This creative activity is great for all ages and includes a delicious reward you can take home. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at a relaxed pace. You might choose to explore a local park, do a bit of souvenir shopping, or simply unwind at your hotel. For families with younger children, Parque Selva Alegre offers a pleasant space for an easy stroll and playtime.

Set out on a journey through southern Peru’s highlands with a visit to the breathtaking Colca Canyon—one of the deepest canyons in the world. This region is known not only for its dramatic landscapes, but also for its rich cultural heritage and timeless Andean traditions. Along the way, take in sweeping views of volcanic peaks, high-altitude plains dotted with grazing alpacas, and remote villages where life moves to the rhythm of the mountains.

A highlight of the experience is a visit to the famed Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where—with a bit of luck—you’ll witness the majestic Andean condor soaring on early morning thermals. Throughout the tour, there are opportunities to explore local towns, relax in natural hot springs, and admire pre-Inca agricultural terraces that still shape the valley. Whether you’re soaking in the scenery or learning about the traditions of the Collagua and Cabana peoples, the Colca tour offers a striking and memorable look into Peru’s highland heart.

Make your way from Arequipa to Cusco quickly and comfortably with a short domestic flight, allowing you to maximize your time exploring Peru’s cultural and natural wonders. Departing from Rodríguez Ballón International Airport in Arequipa, you’ll enjoy stunning aerial views of the Andes Mountains as you travel toward the historic heart of the Inca Empire.

This one-hour flight is the fastest and most efficient way to reach Cusco, bypassing long hours on the road and giving you more time to acclimate and discover the city’s rich history, vibrant markets, and nearby archaeological sites. Upon arrival at Cusco’s Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, ready to begin your next adventure in the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu.

Immerse your family in the vibrant history and culture of Cusco with a full day of discovery and hands-on fun. Begin in the heart of the city with a guided visit to the Cusco Cathedral and Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun. These iconic landmarks showcase the fascinating blend of Inca engineering and colonial architecture, brought to life through engaging storytelling that will capture the imagination of all ages.

After exploring the city, head just beyond its edges to marvel at the vast stonework of Sacsayhuaman, perfect for a bit of exploration and panoramic views. Continue on to Q’enqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay—sites full of mystery, purpose, and natural beauty. Nearby, stop at Manos de la Comunidad to see traditional Andean weaving in action and meet local artisans. Then, sweeten the afternoon with a fun chocolate-making workshop at ChocoMuseo, where you’ll learn about cacao and craft your own treats. If the skies are clear, cap off the day with a visit to the Cusco Planetarium for a magical glimpse into Inca astronomy, perfect for curious kids and teens alike.

Set off on an unforgettable journey through the Sacred Valley, designed to delight and inspire travelers of all ages. Begin with a visit to Awana Kancha, an interactive Andean textile center and alpaca farm, where the family can get up close with llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Learn about the centuries-old traditions of spinning, dyeing, and weaving—often demonstrated by skilled local artisans. Continue to the Ccochahuasi Animal Sanctuary, a heartwarming stop where you’ll meet rescued animals including majestic condors and curious pumas, while learning about wildlife conservation in the Andes.

The adventure continues with a stroll through the colorful Pisac Market, where kids and adults alike will enjoy browsing vibrant textiles, ceramics, and handmade treasures. A visit to the nearby Pisac Archaeological Site reveals dramatic Inca terraces and sweeping valley views. In the afternoon, explore the fortress of Ollantaytambo, a still-inhabited Inca town filled with history and towering stonework.

Just outside of Cusco on the way to the Sacred Valley, this thoughtful half-day tour offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and wildlife conservation. Begin with a visit to Awana Kancha, a living museum where you’ll meet llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos up close. Learn about the traditional techniques of shearing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving camelid fibers—an art passed down through generations in the Andes. This center not only showcases the importance of South American camelids in local culture, but also supports nearby communities by offering high-quality textiles directly from the producers.

Continue to the Ccochahuasi Animal Sanctuary, where rescued wildlife from across Peru is given a second chance at life. Many of the animals here, including Andean condors, spectacled bears, pumas, monkeys, and parrots, were victims of illegal trafficking or mistreatment. The sanctuary is dedicated to their care and to raising awareness about the threats they face. With touching stories behind each animal, the experience is both moving and educational, leaving visitors with a deeper appreciation for Peru’s natural and cultural richness.

Begin your unforgettable family adventure to Machu Picchu with a scenic train ride through the Sacred Valley, where panoramic windows reveal towering mountains, rivers, and rural villages. Arriving in Aguas Calientes (also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo), you’ll board a short bus up the mountain to reach the legendary Machu Picchu Citadel. During your guided tour, the whole family will marvel at the stonework, terraces, and stories that bring this wonder of the world to life. After the tour, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace, take in the sweeping views, and snap plenty of family photos in this bucket-list destination.

After descending back to town, you’ll have time to enjoy one of Aguas Calientes’ hidden gems before catching your train. Curious minds may enjoy the Manuel Chávez Ballón Site Museum and nearby Butterfly House, which offer a deeper look into Inca culture and the region’s unique ecosystems. Or, for a more laid-back option, relax in the local hot springs—a perfect way for the whole family to unwind after a day of exploration.

Enjoy a free day in the vibrant city of Cusco, where you can immerse yourself in its rich history, captivating culture, and stunning architecture. Stroll through the cobblestone streets of the city’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the impressive Plaza de Armas, lined with colonial buildings and the magnificent Cusco Cathedral. Visit the Qorikancha, the Temple of the Sun, once the most important Inca temple, and marvel at the fusion of Inca and colonial architecture.

For a more relaxed day, wander through the San Pedro Market, where you can sample fresh local produce, traditional Peruvian snacks, and handmade crafts. If you’re in the mood for art and history, visit the Museo de Arte Precolombino or the Museo Inka to discover Cusco’s fascinating past. Alternatively, take a leisurely walk up to the nearby Sacsayhuamán ruins for panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. Whether you prefer exploring the city’s historic sites, shopping for unique souvenirs, or simply enjoying the local atmosphere, a free day in Cusco offers a wealth of experiences to enjoy at your own pace.

As your adventure in Peru comes to a close, we’ll ensure your departure is smooth and stress-free. One of our representatives will meet you at your hotel at the designated time and escort you to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. Once there, you’ll have ample time to check in for your flight and prepare for your journey home or onward.
