Upon your arrival at Cusco’s airport, one of our representatives will be there to welcome you and assist with your transfer to your hotel. After checking in, you’ll have the rest of the day free to relax and acclimatize to the altitude. We recommend taking it easy and allowing your body to adjust to the higher elevation.
Cusco is a city brimming with history and charm, and it’s a great place to explore at your own pace. Take a leisurely walk through the Plaza de Armas, visit the impressive Sacsayhuamán, or wander through the cobbled streets of the San Blas neighborhood, where you can enjoy local art, culture, and incredible views of the surrounding mountains. If you’re feeling up to it, stop by one of the many excellent restaurants or cafes to sample some Peruvian specialties, or our team can provide restaurant recommendations and help with securing reservations.
Begin your day by diving into Cusco’s rich Inca and colonial heritage with a guided visit to some of the city’s most iconic archaeological sites. Explore the awe-inspiring Sacsayhuaman, with its massive stone walls and sweeping views over the city. Then continue on to the mysterious Q’enqo, the watchtower ruins of Puca Pucara, and the ceremonial fountains of Tambomachay. This morning exploration gives a captivating look into the engineering genius and spiritual depth of the Inca civilization, set among beautiful Andean scenery.
In the afternoon, journey out into the Sacred Valley to visit two of the most unique sites in the region. First, explore the vast circular agricultural terraces of Moray, believed to be an Inca laboratory for testing crops at different altitudes. Then head to the salt pans of Maras, where thousands of white salt pools cascade down the mountainside—an incredible sight and a living tradition still practiced by local families today. This combination of historic sites and spectacular landscapes makes for a rewarding and well-rounded day.
Begin your journey through the heart of the Sacred Valley with a morning pickup from your hotel. Your first stop is the impressive Pisac archaeological site, perched high on a mountain ridge with sweeping views of the valley below. Explore ancient Inca terraces, ceremonial structures, and watchtowers with your guide before descending to the colorful Pisac market, where you’ll have time to browse handcrafted textiles, local produce, and artisan goods.
Then continue through the valley to Ollantaytambo, one of the last living Inca towns. Enjoy a relaxing lunch made with fresh local ingredients before exploring the Ollantaytambo archaeological site—a remarkable complex of temples, terraces, and fortifications that once served as a strategic Inca stronghold. After your visit, board the train to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll spend the night in preparation for your visit to Machu Picchu the following day.
After a restful night in Aguas Calientes, your guide will meet you at your hotel early in the morning to begin your visit to Machu Picchu. From there, you’ll take the short bus ride up the mountain to the entrance of the awe-inspiring citadel. Perched high in the Andes, Machu Picchu showcases the incredible architectural and engineering mastery of the Inca civilization. As you explore its temples, plazas, and agricultural terraces, you’ll gain insight into its historical significance and marvel at the ingenuity that has allowed it to endure for centuries amid earthquakes and harsh mountain weather.
Following your guided tour, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy Aguas Calientes at your own pace—whether that means lunch, souvenir shopping, or a visit to the town’s namesake hot springs (optional, not included). Later in the afternoon, you’ll board your return train, and upon arrival at the station, you’ll be met by your driver for your transfer back to your hotel in Cusco.
Your journey begins with a morning departure from Cusco or the Sacred Valley, traveling by private transport through breathtaking Andean landscapes. As you ascend into the highlands, you’ll pass shimmering lakes, terraced fields, and remote communities before arriving in the peaceful village of Kinsacocha. Upon arrival, your host family will greet you warmly and help you settle into their traditional adobe home. After a short rest, you’ll join them in the fields for a hands-on introduction to Andean farming practices, where native crops like potatoes and quinoa are grown using ancestral techniques passed down through generations.
Following a nourishing home-cooked lunch made with local ingredients, your afternoon will be dedicated to one of the village’s proudest traditions: weaving. Visit a local women’s weaving collective to observe the full process of crafting textiles—from spinning alpaca wool to dyeing with natural plants and weaving on backstrap looms. The artisans will share the meaning behind the patterns they create, which reflect stories of the land, animals, and Andean cosmology. Afterward, return to your host family’s home, where a warm dinner awaits. Spend the evening gathered around the hearth, exchanging stories and learning more about life in the Andes.
Wake early to the serene sounds of the mountains and join your hosts for a simple, hearty Andean breakfast. Afterward, take an optional short hike to a nearby ridge or lake, guided by a community member. The trail offers panoramic views of the valley and surrounding peaks, often reflected in the still waters of Kinsacocha’s alpine lagoons. This peaceful moment is a chance to reflect on your experience and take in the natural beauty that surrounds the village.
Upon returning to the house, you’ll have time to relax and pack before saying your farewells. The community may share a small parting ceremony or blessing, offering you a meaningful goodbye. With heartfelt memories and a deeper understanding of Andean life, you’ll begin the return drive back to Cusco or the Sacred Valley. This immersive experience not only supports the Kinsacocha community but also leaves you with a genuine connection to their culture, landscapes, and way of life.
The day begins with a scenic drive toward Andahuaylillas Chapel, renowned for its intricate murals and stunning gold-leaf detailing, often referred to as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” After exploring the chapel, we continue on to Raqchi, where we visit the Temple of Wiracocha, a significant Inca site dedicated to the supreme deity. The site features impressive stone and adobe structures, as well as ancient granaries that offer insight into the ingenuity of the Inca civilization.
From Raqchi, we ascend to Raya Pass, the highest point of the journey at 4,335 meters above sea level. Here, take in the breathtaking views of Chimboya Mountain, a striking snow-capped peak. The journey then continues to the Pukara Lithic Museum, where you’ll discover a fascinating collection of ancient Pukara civilization artifacts, including the iconic Hatunñaqac sculpture. With an expert guide providing historical context throughout the day, the journey concludes with an evening arrival in Puno, where you will be escorted to your hotel for check-in.
Your adventure begins early in the morning as we depart by boat from the port of Puno and head out onto the shimmering waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Our first stop is the fascinating Uros Floating Islands, a unique community built entirely on layers of totora reeds. As we step onto the soft, springy surface, you’ll meet local Uros families who explain how they construct their islands, homes, and boats using this versatile plant. There’s also time to take a short ride in a traditional reed boat (optional), offering a deeper connection with their way of life.
After exploring Uros, we continue across the expansive lake toward Amantaní Island, one of the most culturally rich and lesser-visited islands. Upon arrival, local families warmly welcome us into their homes for a truly authentic homestay experience. In the afternoon, we hike to the island’s highest point—the Pachamama temple—to enjoy stunning panoramic views and a dramatic sunset over the Andes and Lake Titicaca. Dinner is prepared by your host family using locally grown ingredients, and the evening concludes with optional traditional music and dancing—an opportunity to join in and experience local customs firsthand.
After a hearty homemade breakfast with your host family, we say goodbye to Amantaní and set sail for nearby Taquile Island, renowned for its vibrant textile tradition recognized by UNESCO. Unlike the floating reed islands, Taquile is a hilly island with stone paths and agricultural terraces, offering spectacular views of Lake Titicaca along a scenic walk. During our guided visit, you’ll learn about the island’s unique social structure and weaving traditions, where men knit and women spin wool, as well as the community’s centuries-old cooperative way of life.
After exploring the island and enjoying free time to admire the landscapes and local culture, we begin our descent to the boat dock. We then board our boat for the return journey across the shimmering waters of Lake Titicaca toward Puno. Take this opportunity to relax and reflect on the unforgettable cultural experiences and breathtaking scenery encountered throughout the trip. Arrival in Puno is scheduled for the late afternoon, followed by transfer to your hotel or the city center.
As your adventure in Peru comes to a close, we’ll ensure your departure from Puno is seamless and hassle-free. One of our representatives will meet you at your hotel at the designated time and accompany you to the Juliaca Airport. Once at the airport, you’ll have plenty of time to check in for your flight and prepare for your journey home or onward.
We hope that your time in Puno has been filled with incredible memories. As you say goodbye to this fascinating region, we wish you safe travels and look forward to welcoming you back for another adventure in the future.
