Upon arrival, we’ll check in to our hotel, where local guides will greet you and help you settle in. In the afternoon, begin your exploration with a visit to Ahu Akivi, a restored platform featuring seven standing Moai that face the ocean—a rare orientation that continues to intrigue researchers and visitors alike. From there, we’ll continue to the lesser-visited site of Ahu Hanga Poukura, an unrestored location where toppled statues and scattered stones remain untouched, preserving an atmosphere of mystery and reverence.

Next, we’ll head to Puna Pau, the quarry of reddish scoria stone where the iconic topknots, or Pukaos, were crafted. This site offers a unique perspective on the scale and complexity of the statue construction process. We’ll finish the day at Tahai, a ceremonial complex that includes three separate Ahu platforms, partially restored statues, and remnants of ancient boat ramps and boathouses. This morning, we’ll set out along the southern coast of the island to visit several powerful and unrestored sites. We’ll continue on to Akahanga, a sprawling ceremonial area long associated with the legendary King Hotu Matua. From there, we make our way to Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where nearly 900 Moai were carved. Continuing our journey, we venture inside Ana Te Pora, a spacious lava tube that perfectly showcases how these natural subterranean structures were hollowed out by rushing magma. The grand finale of our exploration brings us to Ana Kakenga, famously known as the “Two Windows” cave. We will navigate down into this spectacular volcanic tube, which opens up directly on the sheer face of a seaside cliff, offering two jaw-dropping, natural framing windows out over the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. After capturing photos at this unforgettable site, a short walk brings us to our vehicle to return to the hotel, leaving the evening free for you to relax and unwind at your own pace.

As we ascend, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the coastline and the vast Pacific beyond. At the summit, we’ll pause to take in the dramatic sight of the crater lake—its still waters nestled within steep, lush walls, forming a world within a world. Nearby lies the ceremonial village of Orongo, once the center of the island’s birdman ritual. Here, carved petroglyphs etched into the stone speak to a time when islanders sought divine favor through daring feats, and the view of the offshore islets—Motu Nui, Motu Iti, and Motu Kao Kao—is nothing short of breathtaking.

Later, we’ll descend to the intriguing site of Ahu Vinapu, an unrestored platform that has sparked curiosity for its precisely cut stones and alignment—features that some believe mirror construction styles found far across the sea in Peru. As the sun begins to set, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner to remember. Experience a traditional umu, a feast slow-cooked in an underground oven using hot stones, celebrating the island’s culinary heritage. Today we’ll say goodbye to the extraordinary landscapes of Easter Island as we board our flight back to Santiago, reconnecting with the mainland and continuing our journey.
