We will start the day with pickup from your hotel in Cusco and head into the beautiful Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Pisac, once the Southern Gateway to the valley and known for its military, ceremonial, and agricultural importance. Here we will admire the impressive agricultural terraces carved into the mountainside. After exploring the ruins, we will stroll through the colorful artisan market before continuing deeper into the valley for lunch.
After lunch, we will visit the incredible Inca fortress and town of Ollantaytambo, a strategic site built to defend the Northern entrance of the Sacred Valley. As we walk its narrow stone streets and climb the ancient terraces, you will see how it served as a vital military, religious, and agricultural center during the Inca Empire. This was also the site of one of the last Inca victories against the Spanish before their retreat to Vilcabamba.
Our final visit of the day will be to the charming Andean village of Chinchero, known for its blend of Inca and colonial heritage. Here we will explore the Royal Hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, admire the finely constructed Inca walls, and visit the beautiful colonial church decorated with colorful frescoes. After enjoying this picturesque town, we will return to Cusco, arriving back at your hotel in the early evening.
