Our first stop is Chinchero (3,762 m), where we'll explore the Royal Hacienda Ruins of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, see a preserved Inca wall, and visit a colonial church with mysterious fresco paintings built atop Inca foundations. Then, we will head to Salineras de Maras (3,300 m), a pre-Inca salt mine featuring hundreds of terraced pools fed by a natural saline spring. Here, locals harvest pink salt using ancient techniques, and you’ll have the opportunity to buy fresh salt to take home.
Next, we continue to Moray (3,500 m), which is home to several remarkable Inca monuments, featuring terraces arranged in striking concentric circles. The site is believed to have been used for agricultural experiments because of the many different climates achieved at the different levels of the terraces. Then, we will visit The Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo (2,792 m) guarded the valley from jungle tribes. Explore its streets and fortress, once the site of the Inca’s last stand against the Spanish.
Our final stop is Pisac (2,972 m), the southern gateway to the Sacred Valley. Here, we'll explore its extensive hilltop archaeological site, famous for ancient ceremonial baths, military watchtowers, and vast agricultural terraces that cling to the mountainside. After touring the ruins, we'll head down to the traditional village to stroll through its colorful artisan market, where local craftspeople sell handmade textiles, pottery, and silver jewelry before we return to Cusco.
