Our exciting adventure begins early at 4 am when we pick you up from your hotel in our comfortable private transportation. The journey takes around two hours to reach the village of Checacupe, where you will discover its famous bridges that date back to the Inca, colonial, and republican times. The town also has a significant church and is known for being the place where Tupac Amaru II suffered a defeat in his valiant fight for independence.nnAnother 90-minute drive takes us to the quaint village of Palccoyo, where we start our hike towards the main mountain. As we trek, you'll be greeted by the charming sight of alpacas grazing in the distance, and locals with their adorable alpacas who will welcome you along the way.
Upon reaching the Palccoyo viewpoint, you'll be awe-inspired by the stunning scenery of the Palccoyo mountains and the other two colorful hills that make up this attraction. From here, you'll have plenty of time to immerse yourself in the beauty of the surroundings and gaze at the majestic Ausangate (6,372 m / 20,900 ft), which dominates the landscape. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the Red Valley, whose sediments form the Blood River.nnNext, we'll head to the nearby rock forest, where you can snap a fantastic photo of some unique geological formations that have formed over millions of years of thawing. Following this, we'll enjoy an open-air meal with the stunning mountain backdrop before returning you to your hotel in Cusco.
