Our day begins with a hotel pick-up, heading to Ollantaytambo for breakfast and a short walk through its historic cobblestone streets. From the trailhead, we begin our steady hike up toward the Cachicata Quarry (3,520 m / 11,548 ft), one of the most significant Incan industrial sites in the region. Along the trail, you’ll explore ancient stone-carving sites, stone transport ramps, and mysterious chullpas (ancient burial towers) while learning how massive granite blocks were quarried and transported across the valley.
After a fresh box lunch surrounded by mountain views, we continue our ascent to Inti Punku / Sun Gate (3,890 m / 12,762 ft). This ancient stone portal frames breathtaking, panoramic views of the valley and the snow-capped peak of Mount Veronica. After taking time to enjoy the site and photograph the landscape, we begin our descent through the rural community of Cachicata before transferring back to your hotel.
